Orange Sunrise - a Vintage Sheet Quilt

Ta-da!  After I was pessimistic about when I would quilt this one here, I surprised myself and finished not only this one but also the Sunkissed quilt all in one weekend.  Thanks much to a jet-lagged husband, rainy weather, and season 4 of The Tudors streaming on Netflix.  Oh man how I love that show.. but I digress.

This quilt is made from about 6 different vintage sheet prints, and I used an hourglass pattern.
I quilted this with white thread using an all-over meandering free motion pattern.  This has become my go-to quilting method.  It's (relatively) fast and more interesting than straight lines (in my opinion) and I love the crinkly texture it creates after being washed.
The back is another vintage sheet, and I also used a vintage sheet for the hand-sewn binding.

  1. I'm toying with the idea of getting some vintage sheets (although I'm allergic to polyester) just to see if I like making a quilt from them. Thanks for the inspiration!

  2. I love this, the citrus colours are so summery and they look fabulous in the pinwheels.
